Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI)
Der CPI wurde erstmals 1995 veröffentlicht und fasst eine Reihe von Erhebungen zusammen, die die Wahrnehmung von Geschäftsleuten und Länderanalysten im In- und Ausland widerspiegeln. Der TI Corruption Perceptions Index 2003 erfasst 133 Länder, die höchste Anzahl von Ländern in der Geschichte des Index.
95 Länder – darunter viele der ärmsten der Welt – erreichten weniger als 5 von maximal 10 Punkten. Korruption wird als weit verbreitet eingeschätzt in Indonesien, Aserbaidschan, Kenia, Angola, Paraguay, Georgien, Haiti, Kamerun, Nigeria, Myanmar, Tadschikistan und Bangladesch; diese Länder erreichten einen Wert von weniger als 2. Zu den Ländern mit Werten über 9, d.h. einem geringen Ausmaß an wahrgenommener Korruption, gehören die Länder Finnland, Dänemark, Neuseeland, Island, Singapur und Schweden.
